Parlin, NJ – South Amboy Parlin dentist, Dr. Mariana Blagoev will be rewarding a local youth for good deeds performed.
Blagoev has been running a contest to reward local youths for a few years. She called this the “Good Deed” contest.
“When we hear of some bad actions done by people, we tend to think there are bad people in our community. But what if we can hear more about the positive deeds done in our local community?” says Dr. Blagoev.
Dr. Blagoev launched the Do A Good Deed Contest with a hope to give youths a chance to look at their actions. “No one can tell you what a good deed is and what you wish to do. You are the judge of it.” said Blagoev.
The essay contest was open to any youth 18 years of age and under to inspire youths to perform good deeds and submit an essay about what they have accomplished.
This time, the winning essay went to 17-year-old Jacqueline Taggart, who will be awarded the grand prize – a brand new laptop.
Taggart, from South Amboy, was asked by her former history teacher to do volunteer work at the Elk Lodge. She served dinner to the veterans while keeping the veterans company. At the end of the night she said, “I wanted to do something without expecting a return, yet I did get something back, the satisfaction of knowing I made someone happy by simply being there, helping and talking to people who helped protect our country.”
The awarding ceremony will be on Wednesday June 17 at 4pm and will take place at Dr. Blagoev’s dental office located at 1145 Bordentown Avenue Suite 7, Parlin, NJ 08859.
South Amboy mayor Fred Henry will honor the prize-giving event as a guest VIP.
Blagoev said, “The lessons we can impart to our future generation can be a lot more than simply getting good grades or taking care of oneself. The lessons of caring for another person are precious to learn just by themselves!”
